Position: Principal, Technology & Strategy
Position Description
As Principal, Technology & Strategy, you are a business
consultant who fulfills a critical role at Electronic Ink ensuring
the quality and consistency from the start of the sales process
through the presentation of the final deliverables. The Principal,
Technology & Strategy fulfills this role by being an integral
member of the implementation team and collaborating closely with
the client program management, business development and executive
teams. A successful candidate would have seven to twelve years
experience with a development background. This requires superior
communication skills ensuring that all teams communicate in an
effective and timely manner.
As a Principal, Technology & Strategy, you accept the
following charter and key responsibilities:
Technology & Strategy Responsibilities
- Create and produce final deliverables, including business
systems, documentation and proof of concepts, etc
- Manage full development life cycle
- Manage technology infrastructure such as source control, SQL
Server, SharePoint and development environments
- Assess, communicate, and mitigate risks associated with
technology-related options
- Define application architecture and specifications for
development and implementation and communicate them to key project
stakeholders.
- Assist client in determining the feasibility of a project,
including analysis of third-party vendors
- Keep abreast of technological developments
The Principal, Technology & Strategy also serves as a mentor
and leader who will work with the technology team to:
- Ensure high quality of deliverables
- Oversee the delivery work of the team
- Communicate internal information to the team
- Manage the resources on the team as the oversight on
projects
- Deliver training and instruction in technologies
- Inspire, oversee and lead innovation in technological methods
and efficiency
- Work with the Manager of Business Operations to allocate
technology resources for upcoming projects
- Collaborate with all delivery teams
Collaboration with Client Program Management
The Principal, Technology & Strategy will work closely with
the client program management team during both the sales and
delivery phase of a project. During the sales phase, the Principal,
Technology & Strategy will work with the client program manager
to:
- Ensure that the projected hours are accurate
- Determine the timeframes for projects
- Review the project plans associated with SOWs and provide
feedback
- Provide oversight and feedback on the quality of the work done
by technology
- Share knowledge about the client's current business processes
and political issues learned during the sales process
- Ensure that the vision for the project as originally scoped is
met
- Serve as the person which the CPM can work with to resolve
project level resourcing issues
Collaboration with Business Development
The Principal, Technology & Strategy collaborate with the
business development team to win large projects and grow existing
client relationships. Together they engage with clients to:
- Assist in strategic workshops and white boarding sessions
- Assist in the development of a strategic roadmap representing
the client's long-term vision and EI's role in that vision
- Assist in identification of client's critical business
drivers
The Principal, Technology & Strategy is active in the
following stages of business development:
- Actively participates in "Discovery Phase" of the sales
process
- Assist VP, Business Development in developing approach to
client solution and review of Statement of Work
- Transfer knowledge about the client from the sales cycle to the
delivery team
- Build client relationships
- Identify other business opportunities
Collaboration with Executive Team
The Principal, Technology & Strategy will serve as a member
of the leadership team, made up of the strategists representing all
delivery teams. This group will work closely with the executive
team to:
- Identify any new business opportunities within current client
organizations
- Resolve any client issues related to specific projects
- Innovate on and implement new Electronic Ink strategies and
services
- Ensure that the delivery teams are aware of Electronic Ink
organizational goals
