Position: Senior Design Researcher

Position Description

The Senior Design Researcher is responsible for research related engagements, including gathering product requirements, analyzing research data, applying this information to the design process, validating the usability of the resulting product, writing reports, developing supporting artifacts, and reviewing research protocols before they are released to the client.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Mentor junior team members
  • Conduct requirements gathering tasks such as stakeholder interviews, contextual inquiries, user interviews, workshops, and other methods
  • Conduct competitive and heuristic usability assessments
  • Conduct usability tests, including eyetracking tests, in labs or at client sites
  • Analyze data, create reports, and deliver findings to our clients and internal stakeholders
  • Perform the above within allocated budget and timeframes

Skills

  • Good leadership skills to guide clients and mentor team members
  • Good research and analysis skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to work independently and across disciplines on multiple projects
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook
  • Passion for user experience and an advocate for the user

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience in design research, including user research and testing

Educational Requirements

  • Masters or a Doctorate in Human Computer Interaction, Information Science, Information Systems, Communication, Cognitive Psychology, Human Factors, Anthropology, Design, Business Analytics, or related field
